Development and Self Reliance
The Department for Development and Self Reliance (DSR) was established in 2006 to assist the University to implement its Vision through the mobilisation of local and international resources.
Divine Word University receives no direct funding from the PNG government. Most students receive financial aid through scholarship or bursary, and most receive financial assistance from the University itself. DWU endows 1/3 of tuition costs to most of its on-campus students. Without this supplementary endowment, the majority of students would not have adequate funding to attend the University. This endowment to all students comes from donations and fundraising activities, without which the University would be unable to operate.
DSR assists staff of the University in developing and matching Faculty strategic plans to potential funding sources. It provides guidance and resources to staff to request, report on and evaluate their projects to supporting organisations.
The Department for Development and Self Reliance manages a number of activities on behalf of the University, including annual and special fundraising campaigns, major and planned giving campaigns, development services and corporate and partner relations.
If you would like to financially support the University, please contact the VP Corporate Services of the Department for Development and Self Reliance, +675 422 2937 or e-mail dsr@dwu.ac.pg.
