Master of Social Studies
Mode of study
The Master of Arts (Social Studies) degree program is comprised of eight units of study. Students would usually take one unit a semester and take four years to complete the program. Time to complete the award would be shortened if two units were taken each semester. Each unit begins with a one-week- residential program.

Overview
The Master of Arts (Social Studies) degree program aims to develop the capacity and potential of participants to intellectually reflect on, seek solutions to and participate meaningfully in national and international developments with particular focus on PNG society. This participation might involve leadership activities within their organisations. It might also involve contributions to public life, leadership of social organisations and institutions, contributions to the arts and public affairs, reflection and thoughtful comment upon current and national affairs, and the encouragement of knowledge and intellectual pursuits.
Admission
Applicants would normally be required to hold a Bachelor of Arts degree or an award equivalent to four years of professional education from a recognized tertiary institution. The Faculty of Arts will develop a number of lobes, with at least four units in each lobe. Lobes are being considered in the following fields
