After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree and Diploma in Education from the University of Sydney, Peter has seen a career in education spanning over 50 years and covering secondary school mathematics and science education, teacher education in the same areas, and in excess of 15 years in the area of Information Systems and Information Technology at University level. 

Prior to joining the DWU staff in 2002, he was a lecturer in Information Systems in the School of Business and Informatics at the Brisbane campus of Australian Catholic University. During that period he gained his Master’s and PhD degrees from the University of Queensland. At DWU he was the founding Head of the Information Systems Department which celebrated its first 10 years of operation in 2012. He has also contributed to the founding and development of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at DWU.

Peter has a wide range of professional interests in the physical and communication sciences. Recent research interests have been the documentation of important technological developments in PNG generally and DWU ICT technologies in particular. He sees research as informing teaching and seeks to pass on the results of research to his students. He also believes in fostering PNG National staff at the university and so far has assisted five of his staff to gain AusAID Scholarships for Master’s level studies in Australia prior to commencing their Doctoral programs. Two staff members have already gained their  PhD awards under his supervision. Others are expected to follow.
