Oring Gom has facilitated flexible learning programs for almost eight years. He has facilitated programs at diploma and bachelor levels. He has facilitated a total of 14 different units for these programs between 2008 and 2014.

He has also facilitated Diploma in Human Resource Management in Solomon Island in 2014.

In addition, he has engaged in delivering training programs for Catholic Bishop Conference in 2008, 2009 and 2010. He has also been engaged in PNG Government training projects such as “Provincial Performance Improvement (PPII) in 2008 and the “Executive Development Program” in 2009 and 2012.

Oring has over twenty year experience in human resource management in the public sector. He has involved in training, induction, performance management, recruitment and selection and management of human resource, finance and other physical resources of a section within a public sector department.


Oring currently teaches in four academic programs. He teaches the Diploma in Human Resource Management, Diploma in Management, Diploma in Business Studies and the Bachelor of Management programs. Of these programs, he teaches a total of six units namely FM 212 Introduction to Management, FL202 Managing Quality and Service to Clients, FL204 Recruitment, Selection and Induction, FL206 Innovation, Ambiguity and Change, FL207 Effective Workplace Relationships and FM408 Public Sector Management.


Research Interests
Oring Gom has research interests in two areas. Since his engagement in 2008 in flexible learning, he wants to concentrate on undertaking research in adult learning and other associated areas. He also refers to do research in rural settings as over 80% of the population live in the rural areas and are is advantaged in terms of government basic services.


Professional Associations
Oring has a certificate of registration from the National Training Council as a Consultant Trainer.

Oring is currently involved in a collaborative research topic with other colleagues of Finance and Management Department. He is also undertaking an individual research on topic related to flexible learning students and programs.


He has published two articles in the DWU Research Journal as follows:
