Dr Maretta Kula-Semos has held positions of Head of Department, Dean and Director, and is currently the Vice President for Research and Postgraduate Studies. She recently got promoted as Professor of Humanities. Her research interests are in higher education policy, leadership and management, indigenous knowledges with focus on Melanesian epistemologies, tranformative partnerships and teacher education, globalisation and its impact on cross-cultural management both in the private and public sector, and sociolinguistics.

2013 - Examined a master by research thesis by Edward Tondu Mandawa, ‘Qualities of effective classroom teaching: A case study of primary school teachers in Madang Province of Papua New Guinea’, University of Goroka.

2012 - 2013 - Currently supervising masters students’ major research projects in the following programs: Master in Leadership in Development (15 students), Master of Public Administration (10 students) and Master of Education Leadership and Curriculum (11 students).

2012 - Completed cosupervision of PhD candidate Stephen Potek, ‘Gender issues for careers of female primary school teachers in Papua New Guinea’. Stephen graduated in March, 2013.
