Alphonse Aime came to Divine Word University in 2001 as a lecturer in the Department of Communication Arts where he taught Media Law and Ethics, Tok Pisin, Asia-Pacific Development, PNG History, and Business Communication. He previously was the General Editor of the Melanesian Institute publications in Goroka where he worked for nine years. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, in 1999. He graduated with a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Divine Word University. In 2011 he began doctoral studies at the University of Queensland.

Alphonse submitted his thesis, titled, ‘Garamut (Slit-drums) Among the Kayan: A case study of the historical and contemporary significance of garamut among the Kayan people of Madang, Papua New Guinea,’ in February 2015. He has returned to DWU to join the Department of Communication Arts in the first semester, 2015, and has started teaching again.
