Madang: Divine Word University Information Systems students today received a cheque of K10, 000 from National Information and Communication Technology Authority.

National Information and Communication Technology Authority Chief Executive Officer Charles Punaha presented the cheque this morning to assist with the Information Systems Symposium next month.

Mr. Punaha said NICTA supports initiatives and avenues of enhancing ICT knowledge and skills in PNG.

Mr Punaha challenged the department to develop the symposium as it is an effective avenue where people in the ICT department can learn from each other.

He said perhaps ICT policy makers, Internet service providers and the government should attend future symposium to discuss possibilities of enhancing ICT accessibility

Mr Punaha and other representatives from business hours had attended a Media Conference to formally commit assistance to the Department of Information Systems in the seventh DWU IS Symposium next month.

Representative from Telikom PNG, Mr George Ireng announced that Telikom PNG will continue its support to this symposium. The company has assisted the IS Department on previous occasions. This year, Telikom will sponsor T-shirts to the IS Department.

Head of Department Dr Peter Andersons thanked the sponsors for their support and is optimistic that his department will organize yet another successful symposium.

The Information Systems Symposium will be held on the 28th of September, at the Sir Peter Barter Auditorium.

Divine Word University and the Information Systems Department kindly wishes to invite the general public to attend this event.is2012pic1is2012pic2is2012pic3
