Students depart campus

Another hectic and fun-filled academic year for fulltime students at the Madang campus of Divine Word University (DWU) has ended following the conclusion of two weeks of examinations on Friday 24 October, 2014.

Students have since left the campus for their home villages and towns to reunite with family members and friends and have a much-needed break over the next three months.

While the students are on holidays, the lecturers and tutors are still on campus completing assessments and other administration work and doing research for six weeks before they go holidays in early December. Some lecturers, however, are continuing to teach in the flexible learning programs offered by the faculties through the Flexible Learning Centre (FLC) of DWU.

For 336 final year students, the departure from the Madang campus is permanent as they have concluded their studies. The University formally farewelled them during the 6th Missioning Ceremony held at the SVD Memorial Auditorium on Friday 10th October, 2014, three days before exams began on Monday 13th October. Most of the outgoing student though would return briefly for the graduation ceremony on Sunday 15th March, 2015.

For the continuing students, the vacation gives them time to rest and reflect on their performances in 2014 and return with renewed vigour to conquer another year of studies in 2015.

The returning students would be joined by the new intakes for first year studies across all the faculties.

New and continuing students are expected to be on campus for the new academic year by Sunday 8th February and register for studies on Monday 9th February, 2015.

Lecturers are expected to return to work earlier on Monday 26th January, 2015 and take part in the ‘resumption of duty’ program over a week to prepare for the academic year.
