DWU among top three employers in Madang

The Divine Word University campus in Madang town is among the top three (3) employers in Madang Province and contributes to the local economy.

DWU President Professor Cecilia Nembou made this known to the inaugural Madang Investment Summit hosted by the Madang Provincial Government at the Madang Resort Hotel on Friday 9th of September, 2016.

In her presentation titled “Investing in Human Capital and Meeting Industry Needs for the Future – A University’s Experience,” President Nembou said the University provides jobs in many categories.

President Nembou said that these categories range from ancillary staff right up to the position of the President.

She said that the campus had an adult population whose earning capacity was above national average.

This enabled the university community to be classified as middle income earners as per PNG standards.

President Nembou said that DWU had a lot to offer through business and industry cooperation.

She said that such cooperation include initiatives such as student research projects which promotes industry collaborations, staff research and consultancies and experts from business and industry who can contribute to teaching and research as seasonal lecturers, research collaborators and more.

DWU Madang Campus was also among the various exhibitors who showcased what they had to offer to promote investment in Madang though the theme ‘Invest Madang.’

With the theme ‘Invest Madang’ the summit attracted investors both internationally and locally.
