DWU Library

Welcome to Divine Word University Library
Divine Word University Library was inaugurated in 2004. It was named the Friendship Library to recognise the special bond that exists between the people of Papua New Guinea and the people of Australia. The Friendship Library was built with funding from Australia under the PNG Incentive Fund.
The Friendship Library provides a dynamic environment with state of the art facilities to support the curricular study and research needs of the University community.
The Friendship Library collection has over 42000 items including physical items (printed or other physical formats) and access to E-books, E-journals and online databases.
The Library online catalogue contains bibliographic information for all available items whether in print or electronic. (Should “online catalogue” be a link to the actual library catalogue once available in the Internet?)
Training sessions on the use of the library, its online catalogue and the use of full text databases are provided throughout the year as required. Other services include printing, photocopying and disk burning facilities.
The Friendship library primary clientele is students and staff of Divine Word University.
Members of the public can join the library as External Borrowers. Application forms are available from the Information desk. Conditions apply.
Main objectives of the library are:
- To promote and encourage life – long learning and self sufficiency in information seeking skills.
- To promote an understanding of the role libraries play in the learning process.
- To teach independent research skills using the full scope of the library resources.
- To encourage reading for recreation, study and research.
- To support the Teaching and Research programs of the University.
