DWU courses attract workers
Divine Word University’s highly successful flexible learning programs for the working class people have attracted the highest number of intakes in a semester for the university this week.
The university’s Faculty of Flexible Learning which runs the courses enrolled 153 students in different courses. The students converged on the Madang campus for the residential component of their programs, making it the single largest intake.
The programs include the Masters of Leadership in Business Administration which attracted 38 students, Masters of Education Curriculum and Leadership (22 students), Diploma in Management (20 students), Diploma in Business Studies 3rd semester ( 15 students), Diploma and Certificate in Business Studies 1st semester ( 48 students) and Certificate in counseling (10 students).
The students come from various working backgrounds both in the public and private sectors, including church workers.
Popular gospel musician, Max Manimbi and former Pukpuk rugby union star, Ian Leklek are among a cross section of working class people enrolled for the week-long residential component of the programs before they return to their work places with assignments and tasks to do while at work.
