The Faculty of Business and Management (now Informatics) of Divine Word University has won an international recognition and inducted into the class of the “1000 best business schools” in 153 countries.

The France-based international higher education benchmarking agency, Eduniversal, included the DWU faculty in the 2008 awards.

Dean of the Faculty, Dr Lindio Romulo presented the award, an Eduniversal Palmes certificate at the faculty convocation last Friday in front of the DWU Vice President academic, Br Andrew Simpson, staff and students.

Chief Executive officer of Eduniversal, Martial Guitte, commended the efforts of the faculty in a letter to Dr Romulo.

“We would like to honour and reward you with your Eduniversal Palmes since you belong to the official selection of the best business schools,” said Guitte.

“We have the pleasure to send you the Certificate of Palmes that emphasizes the belonging of your institution to a very privileged club of 1000 Best Business Schools listed over 153 countries.

“This certificate, one of a kind, highlights the growing success of your institution on an international scale and rewards all the efforts that have been made by your teams,” said Guitte.

The awards were declared during the Eduniversal World Convention in La Sorbone, Paris, from November 4 and 5th 2008.

Dr Romulo said the Eduniversal recognition was a testimony to the hard work and commitment of the Faculty staff and students and the support they have received from the University.

He commended the leadership of DWU President Fr Jan Czuba and his executives for their hard work in improving the faculty and the university as a whole.

Dr Romulo said the award adds to the growing stature of the Faculty where graduates continue to be well received by employers.

Br Simpson when commending the faculty said graduates from the business and management programs of DWU are “well respected by the business community” adding that 70 to 80 percent them are scooped up by employers upon completion of studies.

He challenged the students and faculty members to not rest on the laurels but continue to challenge themselves and work hard.

The Faculty convocation also included students presenting reports of their internship with the provincial treasuries of the government and taking part in the PNG-Australia Business Forum held at the Madang campus this year. Ends/
