QUT academic and students to visit DWU
A senior academic in media studies and nine journalism students from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Brisbane, Australia will be at the Divine Word University for a week from June 22.
Head of DWU’s Communication Arts (CA) Department, Br Michael McManus announced this week that “Dr Lee Duffield and nine of his journalism students from QUT Brisbane will join us in the week beginning June 22.”
The QUT team is coming via a partnership arrangement with the CA Department.
Br McManus said Dr Duffield “will be conducting a one-week block course in investigative reporting for final year Bachelor of Communication Arts (journalism) students and some PNG journalists, while the QUT students do some local reporting and file their stories via MP3 back to Brisbane.”
He said Dr Duffield will be residing with the Marist Brothers and the students (4 female and 5 male) are hoping to find suitable accommodation, but this cannot be confirmed just yet.
Br McManus said Dr Duffield has been to Divine Word before with QUT students.
“I am sure that you will make them welcome and help them file interesting stories,” he added.
