The Faculty of Arts is spearheading the commemoration with a whole day of activities including speeches highlighting the significance of the international day sanctioned by the United Nations through its agency, UNESCO.

The highlight of the DWU celebrations will be the awarding of the DWU/UNESCO Communication and Development Award given out annually in recognition of the outstanding work of a journalist or communication professional in promoting development.

Keynote speaker is Melchior Warre and popular national television personality and DWU communication arts graduate, Scott Waide will give a speech on “Using New Media to Influence Change”.
