DWU hosts prestigious business meet

May 17, 2011

Divine Word University (DWU) is fast becoming a respected host of national and international conferences.

The latest high profile meeting at the University was the 27th annual PNG-Australia Business Council forum and trade expo that was held on Monday 16th May and Tuesday 17th May. DWU first hosted the same forum in 2009.

President of DWU, Fr Jan Czuba said the university was very honoured and privileged to host important meetings and conferences such as the PNG-Australia Business Council Forum and Expo.

“Indeed we are honoured to host this important meeting involving major business leaders of PNG and Australia discussing business opportunities and changes on our campus using our facilities.

“As a Christian national university we are open to all and would like to interact with a cross-section of society both within PNG and internationally and we are grateful that the PNG-Australia Business Council chose our campus for the second time in three years,” Fr Czuba said.

He also commended the PNG-Australia Business Council for allowing DWU students and staff to attend the two-day business forum.

“The business forum and trade expo of the Australia PNG Business Council was a great experience for everyone involved and I very much appreciate that DWU students could go and attend, meet people and talk.

“I see such a forum as not only of an informative nature but also very educational,” Fr Czuba said.

He said in recent years DWU has successfully hosted major forums such as the PNG Medical Symposium, Climate Change Conference, Science Technology Initiative Conference and National Youth Debate.

Fr Czuba said these were in addition to the regular conferences and symposiums involving the academic faculties and their departments.

He said the DWU has the latest and advanced information and communication technology and world conference venues that can be used by various industry groups and government bodies among others.
