External academic auditors at DWU
July 27, 2011
An external academic audit team is at the Divine Word University (DWU) in Madang carrying out audit of its academic programs and support services this week (Monday 25 July to Friday 29 July, 2011).
The external academic audit is part of DWU’s drive to ensure it offers quality academic programs and services that are on par with international best practice.
It is the first time for a university in PNG to have its academic programs and support services audited by external auditors.
The audit team of eminent professors and academics from Australia is led by Dr Jeanette Baird, the Executive Director of the Australian Universities Quality Assurance Agency (AUQA).
The other members of the panel are Associate Professor Bob Elliott (Director Confucius Institute at the Queensland University of Technology), Dr Nicole Haley (State, Society and Governance in Melanesia Program at Australian National University), Professor Roger Juchau (University of Western Sydney) and Ms Pamela Stronach (Faculty Executive Officer, Faculty of Medicine, Health and Molecular Sciences of James Cook University).
DWU President, Fr Jan Czuba welcomed the academic auditors on behalf of the University community adding that “the purpose of the Audit is to enhance the institutional performance thus, improving the quality of education at the University”.
“We will use the information from the audit to make necessary amendments to our strategic plans.”
Fr Czuba invited his staff to make the auditors feel welcome and assist them with their work.
“I will appreciate very much your collaboration with the (audit) team and extend your assistance when needed.”
The team will be at the University until Friday 29 July, 2011.
