Patrick Matbob joined the Communication Arts Department of Divine Word University in 2002 and teaches Journalism, Layout & Design, Publishing, and supervises Communication Arts students’ research projects. Prior to teaching, he worked as a journalist and a sub-editor with Word Publishing and Post-Courier newspapers in Port Moresby for 15 years. He has co-edited two books – Pacific-Asia Partnerships in Resource Development and Communication, Culture and Society in Papua New Guinea.

He has researched, presented and published papers on journalism, media and communications, the West Papuan issue, the Pacific Marine Industrial Zone (PMIZ) project in Madang and the PNG national elections. His current research interests include the development of journalism, media and communications in PNG, the impact of the PMIZ project, governance issues in Madang Province, and the PNG national elections. He has a Masters Degree in Journalism Studies from Cardiff University in Wales and a Communication Arts degree from Divine Word University.
