Media, Information and Development in Papua New Guinea

media Development

Edited by Evangelia Papoutsaki and Dick Rooney

In Papua New Guinea, as in other South Pacific Islands, there has been a noticeable lack of research into media and little information about how people use the media. Lack of proper research in this field has further contributed to a general perception that communication is not a priority for the country's development.

This book touches on a wide number of media issues in PNG, such as ethics, freedom of expression, ownership, journalism education, community media, culture and identity and government and media. These issues were discussed from a communication and development perspective.

This publication is the collective effort of staff, degree students and associates of the Communication Arts Department at DWU.
