Funeral Arrangement for DWU Vice President Student Affairs- The Late Br Andrew Simpson, MBE

Divine Word University (DWU) is mourning the passing of one of its senior executives, Br Andrew Simpson, MBE.

Br Simpson was DWU’s Vice President Student Affairs at the time of his sudden passing.

Br Simpson passed away at his home at the Divine Word University Madang campus on Wednesday night, 12th June, 2013.

The body of late Br. Simpson was brought to the Modilon General Hospital morgue and awaiting a post-mortem.

The University came to a standstill yesterday as the shocking news of Br. Simpson’s passing brought students and staff to his residence to see his body depart for the hospital.

Condolences from former and current DWU students and staff have been pouring in through social media while they sympathized with the one man who had always been at the forefront of all student activities in and out of the campus.

DWU President, Fr. Jan Czuba said: “We all respect Br. Andrew Simpson very much and we will all miss him.”

Fr. Czuba said Br. Simpson’s family in Australia and the Christian Brother congregation have been informed of his untimely passing and have decided that the late Br. Simpson will be laid to rest in Madang among those he loved and worked with.

The University would like to advise that a special Eucharistic Celebration will be held at the St. Joseph Freinademetz Chapel, Madang Campus, on Wednesday June 19th at 9.00 am. At 10:15 am, the casket will depart from campus to his resting place.

The Late Br Andrew Simpson will be laid to rest at Alexishafen, Madang, Papua New Guinea.
