Aims
The aim of this program is to provide to the Papua New Guinea (PNG) workforce a steady stream of highly qualified graduates who are not only capable of working in the expanding IT industry, but who additionally have a solid grounding in the theoretical frameworks which underlie that industry. It is assumed that an individual who has gained competence in the theoretical foundations is better educated, and better equipped for the ever-increasing pace of change in the technology world. The program will focus on the area of Information Technology known as Data Networking which supports electronic communication from Local Area Networks (LANs) to Wide Area Networks (WANs) up to the Internet upon which communication for modern life depends so much.
Entry requirement
Applicants will usually be IS, IT, Computer or Computing Science degree graduates who will be seeking to develop internationally recognised qualifications in Data Networking in order to meet the immediate need to develop a pervasive communication technology infrastructure for PNG, as well as to enhance their own prospects of gaining employment in this area.
