Diploma in Justice Administration
Program code : DJA
The aim of the program is to expose the students to the legislative and administrative processes involved in the provision of justice services and significantly provide a practical insight into the application of those laws and the administrative processes. This will enable the student to relate well to the law, institutions and individuals when involved in actual justice service delivery. For example, knowing how to draft a Pre-sentence Report and presenting it to the Courts.
In selecting an applicant for the program, the Selection Committee will consider if the applicant-
a) has a Grade 12 level of education
b) is an officer of the Department of Justice and Attorney-General or any government or non-government organization that deals with restoring justice and preventing crime
c) if a government officer, he or she must:
(i) have undergone the public service induction
(ii) have served the government organization for a minimum of two (2) years
(iii) have scored above satisfactory in a recent appraisal
(iv) have not been the subject of any disciplinary action against him or her
(v) have made an undertaking for continued service in a justice service portfolio
(vi) continue to attend to work and undergo training under the supervision of a senior officer within that justice service organization.
d) score more than 50% in an entry test to be administered by the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, Human Resource Management Branch.
