Aims

The purpose of the Bachelor of Business in Management is to equip the students with the profound knowledge to think critically and reflectively, demonstrate values, knowledge, skills and attitudes appropriate to profession, and solve problems in a variety of settings taking local and international perspectives into account. As such, the program pursues strategies to build the students’ capabilities to become skillful and able to work both autonomously and collaboratively; locate, organize, analyze, synthesize and evaluate information using well-founded research knowledge and skills; demonstrate effective communication in oral and written English language and visual media; utilize information and communication and other relevant technologies effectively. And, the program shall institute standards for the students become ethically informed about human diversity, and skills to become competent professionals both in private business and government service. To pursue the above goal, the Faculty of Business and Informatics through the Business Studies Department are committed to providing quality teaching and learning, research and community engagement experiences for the students. These commitment and the department’s teaching and learning activities would gear towards producing DWU BS Management students’ graduates who:
 (Personal development) – develop a sound philosophy of life based on personal and professional ethics
 (Community service) – are accepting of the responsibilities that accompany an education and are ready to serve the needs of society through application of their disciplinary knowledge and professional skills
 (Communication) – have excellent communication skills, in written and oral language, and understand and respect the linguistic diversity of PNG.
 (Computer literacy) – have sound working skills in the application of computer software, and receptiveness to the expanding opportunities for electronic technology
 (Analysis and problem solving) – have critical, logical, creative, systematic and analytical thinking capability which is reflected in their approach to situations and helps them better understand and solve problems
 (Professional knowledge) – use and maintain knowledge about a discipline, striving continually to secure further knowledge and understanding
 (Research) – are able to pursue independent research, including abilities in planning, problem solving, decision making and an appreciation of the ethical conduct of research
 (Social interaction) – demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively and productively in teams with tolerance, respect and value for human diversity
