FM233 Management Fundamentals:

This unit provides all fundamental knowledge on the principles and practices of management and the roles of manager in the organization. It mainly revolves around the basic functions of managers, specifically planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Apart from providing the students with the beginning level of understanding management principles, case studies are analyzed using various and appropriate strategies and techniques based on relevant principles and theories.

FM250 Introduction to Taxation:

In this unit the students will understand the provisions on income tax laws for individuals, resident and non-resident, companies and other businesses and allowable deductions. Other taxes imposed by PNG will also be covered for understanding business legal requirements and compliance. Participants will be engaged in practical exercises on the tax issues and problems commonly encountered by individuals and companies alike.

FM260 Finance and Resource Management:

In this unit, students acquire the knowledge on how finance and other resources are managed in different organisations and are able to effectively manage all resource to meet targets of the organisation. Financial and all other resources have to be managed well to enable businesses to operate and function to achieve the goals and objectives of the business. Finance affects the lives of every person and every organisation and proper management will result in the outcomes to be realised.

FM261 Managing Customer Service:

In this unit, students acquire knowledge, skills and develop positive attitudes in managing customer service in their workplaces. The key concepts of customer service management are presented. It then provides explanation on the significance of managing customer service in the modern business environment. It further considers the key elements in delivering customer service excellence. The other important components of managing customer service, evaluating customer feedback and instituting relevant actions for maintaining customer service for long-term competitive edge also are covered in the discussion.

FM235 Introduction to Organizational Behavior:

In this unit, students present various views of Organizational behavior in management. It deals with the dynamic functions and responsibilities of different organizations. Monitoring of individual and group performance and the challenging role of creating a climate where employees will manifest desirable behavior in the workplace. Topics include an overview of Individual and Group Behaviour and the three levels of organizational behaviour. OB looks at organizations as entities, the forces that shape them, and their impact on the members.

FM251 Managing Projects:

In this unit, student students view all undertakings in their lives, which require resources that exist in limited quantities for their completion as a project. Participants will identify various components of a project, analyse project scope, determine critical tasks, and the critical path to complete the project within the resources constraints. Practical project concepts include project initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, updating, completing and closing. A project management application software tool will be used to manage projects, and students are expected to write individual project closing reports.
