Welcome to Faculty of Business and Informatics

Dear Staff and Students,

It is with great joy and anticipation that I welcome you all to the Faculty of Business & Informatics at Divine Word University for the 2025 academic year! Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, you are now part of a vibrant learning community dedicated to academic excellence, ethical leadership, and service.

This year, we embrace the Divine Word University theme: "Living Our Noble Traditions and Christian Principles in Papua New Guinea." This theme calls us to honour the noble traditions of our nation, uphold the Christian principles that guide our mission, and contribute to the integral human development of our people. These values are deeply rooted in the Papua New Guinea Constitution and align with our commitment to shaping responsible, ethical, and innovative leaders for the future.

The University’s vision is “to be the leading university, in the Catholic tradition, in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific Region”. The Faculty’s vision is “to be the leading school of business & Informatics in line with the University’s vision.” As a Faculty, we are committed to growth and innovation, leading to student and student transformation. In 2025, we are excited to introduce new initiatives that will enhance your academic journey and professional development, including:

  • Offering the Bachelor of Business at our Port Moresby campus.
  • Updating programs and unit study guides to keep pace with industry trends.
  • Integration of our DWU Theme into teaching, learning, and research activities.
  • Review and development of online learning programs, including a Graduate Certificate in Customer Services for the Tourism & Hospitality Management industry.
  • Strengthening research, academic writing, and community-oriented projects.
  • Building partnerships with professional bodies such as CPAPNG and industry partners.
  • Developing work experience and job placement opportunities for students.
  • Hosting workshops and retreats focused on our DWU Theme and Systems Thinking.
  • Advancing the Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Port Moresby campus.
  • Increasing student intakes and fundraising efforts to support faculty activities.

All these initiatives are designed to provide a transformative learning experience that equips you with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in an ever-evolving business and digital landscape.

To our students, I encourage you to take full advantage of the opportunities available to you. Engage actively in academic and extracurricular activities, seek mentorship from your lecturers, and foster meaningful connections with your peers. Remember, learning extends beyond the classroom—it is in the way you think, the way you collaborate, and the way you apply your knowledge to create positive change. Above all, I urge you to uphold the university’s policies and regulations to ensure a fulfilling and successful academic journey.

To our staff, thank you for your unwavering dedication to excellence in teaching, research, and service. Your commitment to nurturing students and advancing knowledge plays a crucial role in achieving our shared vision: to be the leading Faculty of Business and Informatics, aligned with the mission of Divine Word University.

As we embark on this new academic year, let us work together with passion, integrity, and a spirit of innovation. Let us live our noble traditions, uphold our Christian principles, and shape the future of Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region.
