DWU Teams Ready for DICT 2026 National Hackathon
Divine Word University, Madang Campus is incredibly proud to announce that two outstanding student teams have been selected to compete in the prestigious DICT 2026 National Hackathon! Our students will be showcasing innovative digital solutions designed to address real-world challenges in Papua New Guinea.
Meet the teams representing DWU on the national stage:
Team Pacman5 (Information Systems Department)
· The Project: Developed a targeted digital solution for the Education Department.
· The Team: Philemon Kira, Sharon Peter, and Vincent Mala.
· Coach: Mr. Maxie Cletus (Lecturer, Information Systems)
Team Crimson Coderz (Mathematics & Computing Science Department)
· The Project: Created an innovative system for the Department of Lands and Housing.
· The Team: Swartzleigh Girey, Zemarlyne Vari S., Abbigail Pokolou Kiengou, and Gladys Kilavo.
· Coach: Mr. Dale (Head of Mathematics & Computing Science)
A major highlight of both projects is the integration of SevisPass, Papua New Guinea’s digital identity platform. By incorporating SevisPass, both teams are demonstrating how secure digital identification can revolutionize public service delivery and support the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
Ahead of the event, team members shared their excitement about taking their classroom knowledge and applying it to crucial national challenges.
Their participation reflects DWU’s ongoing commitment to innovation, practical problem-solving, and shaping the future technology leaders of PNG.
