DWU Rabaul Campus Prayer Tribute
Following the Second Mass at Vunapope Cathedral this morning, the Divine Word University Rabaul Campus Students' Representative Council organized a heartfelt Prayer and Tribute Program at Omerong Beachfront.
Students, staff, families, and friends of the DWU Rabaul Campus Community gathered in unity to offer prayers of comfort, peace, strength, mercy, and healing for the families and loved ones affected by the tragic boat incident of 18 July 2026. Together, we also prayed for the souls of those who have gone before us, asking God to grant them eternal rest in His everlasting Kingdom.
In his welcome address, Rabaul Campus Administrator, Mr. Karaho Asimi, thanked everyone for their presence and shared words of hope and encouragement. He acknowledged the compassion and leadership of the DWU Rabaul Campus SRC for organizing this meaningful gathering, reminding the community that we continue to stand together in faith, prayer, and support during this time of sorrow.
A special moment of the program was the laying of floral tributes by Dame Sandra Lau of Tropicana, symbolizing love, remembrance, and hope for the families who continue to grieve.
The gathering concluded with the Serenity Prayer, reaffirming our trust in God's love and mercy and our commitment to supporting one another as one university community.
The DWU Rabaul Campus community extends its heartfelt gratitude to the DWU Rabaul Campus SRC, everyone who attended, and all who contributed to making this prayerful tribute a meaningful expression of faith, compassion, and unity.
"May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen."
