Founding President Reflects on DWU’s Legacy and Mission
At the DWU 30th Anniversary Festival of Legacy and Vision, founding President Fr Jan Czuba, SVD (1996-2015), reflected on the bold vision that gave rise to Divine Word University.
"We had the courage to envision a university. We wanted to form people of competence, character, and integrity."
As DWU celebrates 30 years of growth and service, Fr Czuba invited the university community to look back with humility and gratitude, acknowledging the dedication and sacrifices that have shaped the institution's journey. He emphasized that academic excellence must always be accompanied by ethical responsibility, reminding all that education is not only about knowledge, but also about values and service.
"A university does not exist for itself; it exists to serve the nation and to serve humanity."
His message serves as a powerful reminder of DWU's enduring mission to develop graduates who are committed to making a meaningful difference in society.
