K92 Mining Strengthens Partnership with DWU at Cultural Day
Divine Word University (DWU) and K92 Mining have strengthened their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote collaboration in information exchange, technical studies, research, and staff and student engagement through field-oriented training in occupational health and safety, commercial, and human resources. The MOU was signed by DWU President, Professor Fr Philip Gibbs, SVD, and K92 Mining Vice President for Human Resources, Susan Scheepers, together with K92 Mining Vice President for Community Affairs and External Relations, Mr. Stanley Komunt.
Mr. Komunt later joined the DWU 30th Anniversary Festival of Legacy and Vision celebrations as the keynote speaker for Cultural Day, where he spoke passionately about the importance of preserving cultural identity and celebrating the diversity that makes Papua New Guinea unique. In his address, Mr. Komunt emphasized that Cultural Day is more than a showcase of traditional attire and performances; it is an opportunity for people from different cultures to come together in unity, respect, and shared purpose. He highlighted the importance of preserving cultural heritage as a source of pride, strength, and inspiration for future generations.
The strengthened partnership between DWU and K92 Mining will create further opportunities for students and staff while contributing to research, professional development, and the development of future leaders. K92 Mining has also proudly supported DWU's 30th Anniversary celebrations as the Gold Sponsor of the recent DWU 30th Anniversary Corporate Dinner in Lae and the DWU 30th Anniversary Cultural Show at the DWU Madang Campus.
DWU extends its sincere gratitude to K92 Mining for its generous support and commitment to education, culture, and community development. The University values this important partnership and looks forward to creating more opportunities that will benefit students, staff, and the wider community in nation-building.
Together, DWU and K92 Mining continue to build stronger partnerships, celebrate diversity, and create opportunities for a brighter future.
