Brother Francis Hough Marks 60 Years as a Marist Brother
Recently, the Divine Word University, Madang Campus St. Joseph Freinademetz Chapel resonated with joyful music, thanksgiving, and inspiring memories as Brother Francis Hough celebrated the 60th Anniversary of his Profession as a Marist Brother.
The celebration featured a homily by Fr Philip Gibbs, while Brother Francis shared a moving presentation of photographs and stories from his remarkable journey as a Marist Brother, a vocation that has taken him to many parts of the world, including Papua New Guinea, where he first arrived in 1987.
Reflecting on Brother Francis’ six decades of faithful service, Fr Philip said “For sixty years, Brother Frank’s life has proclaimed the message of Amos and the mercy of Christ, not mainly by many words, but by fidelity. He has shown that true religion becomes real when justice, kindness, patience, and hope flow through ordinary daily life. Like Mary, the model of Marist life, he has helped Christ to be born quietly in the lives of others. Today, we thank God for the gift of this vocation and for sixty years of saying ‘yes’ to God’s call.” said Fr. Phil.
Congratulations, Brother Francis, on this remarkable milestone. Thank you for your faithful witness, dedicated service, and commitment to the Marist mission over the past 60 years. May God continue to bless you with peace, joy, and good health in the years ahead
