Aims

The Master of Leadership in Business Administration (MLBA) program caters for interests of applicants in business, public and private sectors of the PNG economy.

The MLBA program is for business and management leaders in the 21st century. It addresses the needs and demands of organizations in Papua New Guinea for a greater quality of work and life that require managers to be good leaders who are honest and committed and able to create an organizational culture that enables and empowers people to bring out the best in them for the good of society.

Entry requirement

Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in business, management or a related field and have at least three years' work experience in business or self-employed.

Duration of study

The MLBA program is comprised of 12 units offered in flexible learning mode. The program gives participants the opportunity to upgrade their qualifications while still working. Students take three units a semester and complete the program in two years. Students are required to participate in a three-week residential component each semester. Students are expected to have their own personal laptop.

Costs

K100 non-refundable application fee

K7500.00 per semester for 3 weeks’ tuition, materials and internet access
Travel, accommodation and meals are additional. Current fee for on-campus accommodation and meals is K2205 for a 3 week residential (K105 per day). Day students can have morning tea and lunch on campus for a fee of K300 for the 3 weeks.
A K100 deferral fee is charged if a student is unable to attend a residential at the scheduled time.

Master of Business Administration

Program code: MBA

Aims

The MBA programs aim to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of senior and executive managers in the public and private sector organizations in Papua New Guinea to support their efforts towards sustainable development of the country.

Entry requirement

Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree with at least five years’ work experience or self-employment.

Duration of study

The program is comprised of 12 units. Students take 3 units a semester in blended learning mode and complete the program in two years. Students complete 8 compulsory units and then take 4 specialist units for Accounting & Finance, Entrepreneurship or Management. Students can decide to graduate with a postgraduate certificate after completing the first units or postgraduate diploma after 8 units compulsory. The program is delivered in block mode. Each unit is delivered over two 20-hour-weekend-blocks of 8 hours on Friday, 8 hours on Saturday and 4 hours on Sunday morning, making a total of 40 hours per unit.

Diploma in Human Resource Management

Program code : DipHRM

Aims

The Diploma in Human Resource Management (DipHRM) program is designed to develop competencies in students for human resource management roles with fundamental and contemporary knowledge necessary to manage people in organizations in the 21st century.

Entry requirement

Applicants should hold a Grade 12 or matriculation qualification and have a minimum of three years' work experience or self-employment.

Costs

K100 non-refundable application fee

K3000 per semester (K1500 per unit) Travel, accommodation and meals are additional. Current fee for on-campus accommodation and meals is K1,470.00 per fortnight (K105 per day). Day students can have morning tea and lunch on campus for a fee of K200 for the 2 weeks.

A K100 deferral fee is charged if a student is unable to attend a residential at the scheduled time.

Diploma in Business Studies

Aims

The Diploma in Business Studies (DipBS) is designed to equip students with fundamental and contemporary knowledge in business and upgrade their analytical and behavioural skills required in managing an organisation. The program endeavours to supplement the students’ practical knowledge with well-founded concepts for those who desire to attain a degree in business-related fields. With the growing trend towards globalization, public sector reform and government incentives to boost SME development, it is essential for students to acquire business skills to take a greater leadership role within their organizations or even take initiative to start-up SME.

Entry requirement

Grade 12 Certificate with C or better grades in the core subjects or the equivalent of matriculation to tertiary studies.
At least 3 years of work experience or self-employment.
Must be computer/internet literate.

Duration of study

The DipBS is a 2 year (4 semesters) program comprising eight units of study. It is offered in flexible learning mode in a variety of locations at different times throughout the year where there are cohorts of students to be taught. Students take two units per semester and complete the program in two years. Students are required to participate in a twoweek residential component each semester. They are expected to have a laptop for their study throughout the program.

Diploma in Management

Aims

The Diploma in Management (DipM) is designed to prepare students to be managers and leaders. It equips students with the essential knowledge and skills to manage people and organizational resources and to achieve personal and professional goals. The program offers units relevant to developing creative and analytical skills to manage their roles in the ever-changing work environment. With the growing trend towards globalization, public sector reform and government incentives to boost SME development, it is essential for employees to acquire management skills to take a greater leadership role within their employer organizations or even take initiative to start-up SME.

Entry requirement

Grade 12 Certificate with C or better grades in the core subjects or the equivalent of matriculation to tertiary studies.
At least 3 years of work experience or self-employment.
Must be computer/internet literate.

Duration of study

The program is delivered through flexible, blended learning strategies using well-established principles of adult learning applied to the Papua New Guinean context. Students are required to attend an intensive two-week residential component at Wewak Campus each semester. Directed and practical assignments relating to workplace applications must then be completed in the student’s own time and submitted before the due dates.

Bachelor of Management

Aims

The Bachelor of Management (BoM) program is designed to equip professionals in public and private sectors to manage and lead organizations into the future. The Program delivers strategies to build the students’ capabilities to become skilful managers in diverse work environments, manage people harmoniously and productively, and work both autonomously and collaboratively. It equips students with knowledge and skills to think ethically, critically and reflectively, demonstrate professional values, and solve problems in a variety of settings taking local and international perspectives into account.
