Joseph KEKEYA is an Associate Professor of Education, and Dean of Faculty of Education. He has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Waikato University, New Zealand. The title of his PhD thesis is: Investigating National Curriculum Implementation in Papua New Guinea (PNG). While studying at the University of Waikato, Joseph has been engaged by the Department of Teacher Education, Faculty of Education, as a Pacific Postgraduate Student mentor. Joseph has mentored both the Masters and PhD students from the Pacific. Joseph also holds Master Degree from Charles Sturt University in Australia.

He has a wealth of experience in course design and delivery as well as training of teachers, trainers and personnel from both the government and private sectors in PNG and overseas. As a Head of Department with the then Undergraduate Studies Department, Faculty of Flexible Learning, Divine Word University, for two years, Joseph coordinated and managed a wide range of distance mode of programs, both in PNG and Pacific, as well as coordinated curriculum development at the department and faculty level. In the Pacific, Joseph has been involved in training police officers, teachers and nursing officers.  Supervisors and program participants rate his performance highly in their evaluations. He has been involved as a consultant in number of projects, and undertaken several research studies and published the findings. He has published two primary textbooks for grades six, seven and eight, with the Oxford Press in 2007. These publications are now being used in primary schools to support the implementation of the national primary curriculum in PNG education system. He is up-to-date with educational reforms in PNG and been actively involved in gender equity workshops. As a Course and College Practicum Coordinator at Madang Teachers College for five years, Joseph has mentored, evaluated and improved training performance of students and colleagues. He is familiar with a broad range of educational contexts. Joseph is a committed Senior Lecturer who demonstrates an outstanding ability to model leading teaching and learning practices to adult teaching in a diversity of Pacific contexts.
