Summary
Bernadette. V. Wageg is qualified registered nurse and is a Papua New Guinean. I have worked in varies places such as southern highlands and East Sepik Province as a clinical nurse for 20 years. I did permanent night supervision at Wewak hospital for 7 years from 1994 to 2000, overseeing the overall nursing administration and being a nurse midwife it is also my responsibility to assist the nurses in the labour ward to any complication from 10pm to 8 am the next day.
In 2001, I went to do my health education and obtained my diploma certificate in health education at the University of Goroka in 2002.
I resigned from Wewak hospital in February 2002 to take up teaching and deputy principle at Raihu community health workers training school with the catholic health service in Aitape, West Sepik province. Classroom teaching assists and supervises students’ clinical practice in clinical areas when required.
Assess procedures performed by the Community Health Worker Students and document in their skills log book as evidence.Took charge in absence of principal and attend to correspondence.
In 2002- 2004, I was a member of the Community Health Worker (CHW) Curriculum Working Committee, with Health Service Support Project (AUSAID) and the National Health Curriculum Team responsible for the review of the old CHW curriculum and the eventual redesign and development of the curriculum which is now implemented by all the CHW Training School in Papua New Guinea.
I obtained my Certificate IV Assessment and workplace Training certificate in 2005, IEA College Ela Beach Campus (PNG) Affiliated with Institute of TAFE Sunshine Coast (QLD Australia). I was appointed implementing coordinator for the Raihu community health workers (CHW) training school.
In January 21st 2008 commenced employment with ST. Mary’s school of nursing in Rabaul, East New Britain Province up till now.

- Classroom teaching and taught year three (3) diploma in nursing students. The subjects are complication in obstetric, neonate, reproductive health, gynecological problem, pharmacology, community health, community education/ promotion and community health services.
- Assist clinical supervisors in assessing student’s clinical procedures, when the year three students are out in their clinical placement
- January 26th 2016 – took another subject on board that is Community Health, with Obstetric nursing for year three Diploma Nursing Students.

Feb 2009 – March 14th 2014 (CLINICAL SUPERVISOR) Coordinating learning activities and work experience for Diploma Nursing students in the clinical placement.
- Assist Students to implement theoretical concept into clinical practice in order for the students to meet the PNG National Competency Standards.
- Assessing clinical procedures performed by the Diploma Nursing students based on the National Competency Standards and document appropriately in their skills log book as evidence.
- Participate in the general and effective evaluation of the student with the clinical staff.
- April 12th to16th/2010 – facilitate in-service to clinical staff St. Mary’s Hospital Vunapope on preceptorship to ensure effective assessment are done by them on the students’ performance.
