Announcement of 2022 DWU New Intake Acceptance and Reserve Name List

The following announcement is for new intakes accepted and reserve candidates.

The New Intake Acceptance list will also contain names of past DWU students returning to complete their degree program, those undertaking full time Master of Educational Leadership and Advance Diploma in Eye Care program.

New Intakes are asked to read the following notice in preparation for the 2022 Academic Year. The notice can be downloaded here

The notice is information that explains the requirements to register and fees for all new intakes.

The Reserve List and Information to Reserved candidates can be downloaded here.
Only names on the Reserve List will be consulted to fill available spaces. Those seeking space are encouraged to apply for the 2023 Non School Leaver Application Round that will be announced through the Divine Word University official website between April and May 2022.

This announcement is for students, parents and sponsors and is relevant for those undertaking Full-Time study programs at Divine Word University Madang Campus.
 
Fees
 
Every year DWU subsidizes the total annual actual fees charged. The fee charged after subsidy for each student at DWU varies depending on the program studied, their choice for residential status and whether they are on government sponsorship through the Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (TESAS) administered by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) on behalf of the PNG Government.
 
The Explanation of the DWU Fee Structure for 2022 is to get students, parents and sponsors to understand the fees charged and the actual fees that are subsidized. 
 
Explanation of DWU Fee Schedule 2022
 
Tuition Fees
 
The Tuition Fee (green highlighted) is the compulsory fee that all students should pay. The On-Registration fee should be paid before the 31st of January in order to register for the academic year. The balance of the total Tuition Fee is due to be paid before the 31st of May.
 
The Boarding and Lodging Fee is a separate fee that must be paid in full should a student wish to be “Residential” i.e. reside on campus.
 
Students who wish to be “Non-Residential” i.e. not reside on campus will only pay the full Tuition fee owed by the due dates mentioned.
 
First Year students will be issued a laptop after the full On-Registration Fee is paid.
 
Boarding and Lodging
 
Students who wish to be “Residential” will pay the annual standard Boarding and Lodging fee of K6,900.00. The Boarding and Lodging Fee includes meals and accommodation.
 
TESAS
 
The Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (TESAS) is a PNG Government funded Scholarship administered by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST). The awarded TESAS amount (highlighted yellow) is payable by DHERST for students who will be on TESAS.
 
Total Tuition and Boarding and Lodging Fee
 
The total Tuition and Boarding and Lodging fee is the complete fee amount paid by the student for the academic year. For those students who wish to be “Non-Residential” will only pay the total Tuition Fee less the Boarding and Lodging fee.
 
Total Annual Cost Subsidized by the University
 
The Total Annual cost is the actual cost for the programs by which Divine Word University subsidizes. The subsidized amount (blue highlighted) is the amount DWU subsidizes.

Divine Word University (DWU) is a National University. It offers a wide range of full-time and part-time programs within the faculties.

We have three categories of applicants for enrolment at DWU of which the first category is School Leaver. This category includes students currently enrolled in Secondary and National High Schools, Private and International schools, who are doing Grade 12 and sit the Grade 12 National Examination. The second is Non School Leaver (NSL), includes those who have completed Grade 12 in the past and were not selected, Grade 12 upgrading their Grades or those who have completed Grade 10 and are now enrolled at a University Centre or employed. The third category is Degree applicants, who completed two years of diploma studies either at DWU or elsewhere and who wish to upgrade their qualification to a degree level.

DWU will not send application forms to students in schools where students sit the Higher School Certificate Examination. They will use the official Office of Higher Education School Leaver form (SLF) to apply for admission to DWU.

DWU will send NSL forms to those (NSL) who request for the Application form. On the FORM we require,

  1. Personal Information,
  2. Academic Information,
  3. References from the Principal or other teachers from the School and from a Pastor or Community Leader and,
  4. Family or other details of a Sponsor.

A closing date for Applications at DWU is specified on the Form. After we receive all applications, they are then processed and forwarded to respective departments for the initial selection process (Pre-Selection). The Pre-Selected Applicants will go through the final selection after the Grade 12 selection at the Office of Higher Education in December.
